NZZ Residence features an in-depth profile of Olivier Chow, founder of Foreign Agent, With a background in political science and art history, Chow has lived in over a dozen countries, including several years in Africa, where his passion for the continent’s artistic production took root.

As both a curator and collector, Chow has built a personal collection that includes works by leading artists such as Dennis Osadebe, Wole Lagunju, and Esther Mahlangu. His expertise and commitment to contemporary African art have led to his participation in international platforms like Larry’s List and Independent Collectors, as well as art fairs including 1-54, PAD, and Design Miami.

In the interview, Chow reflects on his journey as a collector, the evolution of his interests, and the intimate relationship between collecting and living with art. While his gallery engages with the global art market, his collection remains deeply personal, housed in his private residence, where he occasionally welcomes art enthusiasts by appointment.
