Clear Blue, Watercolours by Nicolas Lambelet Coleman

After the widely succesful "A Stranger in Morocco" presented at  1-54 Marrakech in February 2023, Foreign Agent is thrilled to present another solo show by Swiss-American artist Nicolas Lambelet Coleman, his first solo in Switzerland. "Clear Blue" is also the artist's first set of watercolours.

In this amtospheric series defined by vibrant, textured and colourful backgrounds, Coleman explores the simple  joys of summer such as swimming, diving, lounging or reading by the pool, the lake or the seaside. "Clear Blue" is a personal journal of delicate and luminous  family and self-portaits in America and Switzerland against a backdrop of blue skies, green forests and clear shimmering waters that draw the viewer in. Not unlike the spirit of the Marrakech series, "Clear Blue" radiates a poignant old-world yet contemporary charm. Titles like "La Vaudoise" and "Le Vaudois" anchor some works in this series on the shores of the Lac Léman - in Ouchy, Lausanne not far from the gallery - and point to his mother's origins by the lake, featured by the artist for the first time.  A perfect summer, in November.

Come join us on Saturday November 25th, 6pm, in the presence of the artist!
